ECCO Soft 7 Sneaker review | CES2017

Ecco Soft 7 Sneaker

What does an ECCO Soft 7 Sneaker have to do with CES? Think about the technology to make them and then a pair being sending it over to wear during CES to test the comfort.  I definitely put them to the test walking for days in them before writing this review.  I wanted to see comfort, style and general wear and tear.

The first day with the Ecco Soft 7 Sneaker had me in my doubts that I was gaining any comfort from them. But I was reminded that it takes a few to break in new shoes, no matter what the brand, cost or style. I am happy to say I am glad I waited and tramped on with them.

They have a leather exterior with leather lining and sizing is easy with both European and US size charts. There were six colors for the Ecco Soft 7 Sneaker to choose from and I went with the gray over white for my review.  They arrived well packaged with the little inserts to keep them stretched out.

One of the things I noticed was the ribbed bottoms. They are quite firm but did give great traction, even on wet pavement and those slick conference floors.  They never did soften up any so I started investigating and learned about ECCO’s Direct Injection Product (DIP) manufacturing. They even made a short video about the process that was cool to learn how much effort they put into making their shoes.

Direct Injection Process a process where the upper is placed into the mould, and liquid polyurethane (PU) is injected to shape the and anatomically correct midsole and / or outsole. Robot precision ensures a consistent quality regardless of the production location.

While I have only had these a month, to be transparent, the leather has kept up well.  The white trim around the bottom took some scuffs and marks right away. There is really no way around it unless you walk being forever aware of everything you may bump into.  Four of the six Soft 7 Sneakers have the white trim. So keep that in mind or pick up something to give them a good scrub if you like the pure white trim look like I do.

The insert is removable and has their trademarked Comfort Fibre System. This allowed you to easily replace the insert with some of their replacements to keep the shoe feeling fresh and comfortable. the shoe design is a bit more narrow from heel to instep and wider at the toes. I found it gave more comfort while being tight enough in the right places to not slide.

Digging around I found that the Soft 7 shoe from Ecco does come in mens and womens sizes.  You can get them directly from ECCO website or via Amazon (affiliate link) in a range of prices across the styles and colors.

Overall, I look forward to wearing these now that I broke them in after a few wears. They have retained their look and feel after miles of walking at conventions and around downtown. The leather looks great and people do compliment the look of the shoe.  I just have to keep that white shining.

PhoneSuit Journey Ultra 5000mAh charger review | CES2017

PhoneSuit Journey Ultra 5000mAh charger

PhoneSuit was present at CES2017 with a new line of products including the Journey Travel Charger Ultra 5000mAh . With built in micro-USB and lightning cables, plus an additional USB port for charging, it covers three devices at once. It comes in a great looking package for appeal and which the charger and one additional micro-USB cable.

PhoneSuit Journey Ultra packaging

I found mine arrived fully charged and ready to go when taking it out of the box.  The two cables easily pop out of the sides and stay tucked in tight when not in use.  What was surprising was how thin the Journey Ultra was at 13mm.  They packed a lot of power and cables into such a compact design.  Making it perfect for travel. I always carry one to two portable batteries, but cables are always a problem.  This seemed to solve both issues so it was put to the real world test.

Peanut by Sen.se – product review |CES2017

Sense GuardPeanut and ThermoPeanut

Sen.se sent over two of their four peanuts, the ThermoPeanut and GuardPeanut. The name simply comes from the shape and look of the Bluetooth device. All of the Sense Peanut devices are made to be simple to use and also utilize the same application giving you a single dashboard to work with any variation.  You also have nine Peanut colors to choose from, all under $30 USD.

Each Peanut is thin in height and Bluetooth connected to your device. So a device being in range to collect data or get alerts for any of them is important. Each Peanut can also make audible noises and alerts on their own giving them some independence if you leave range. That is especially important on the GuardPeanut.

A Peanut can store data for up to 15 days, but you can have multiple devices sharing a login collecting data. You can have as many Peanuts collecting data in the application, but the device you choose will dictate how many it can collect from at once. Each Peanut comes with a clip holder, ring and some sticky tape for carrying and placement options.

Wistiki Bluetooth tracker review | CES2017

wistiki voila

To stand out in this heavy Bluetooth tracker market, Wistiki went for design, look and style. Wistiki tasked designer Philippe Starck to make that tracker.  He succeeded with three designs for Wistiki under the names aha!viola!, and hopla!. Each is unique in shape with shared color schemes.

While I tried to imagine what it would look like before opening the package or viewing the website, I still was not prepared. It just looks stunning. Time will tell how long the body holds up to bangs and drops though.

Wistiki Viola case

After a successful Kickstarter, they went into production targeting a unique need with each of the three styles. I was able to test the voila! in yellow. I immediately liked the packaging and found the device to resemble a USB stick or small pack of gum, with an amazing esthetic look and quality.  The stainless steel body does model itself after some USB vendors. While the yellow tip was not removable it gave a clear view of the actual tracker device inside.  There is only one small indent on the body that activates the Wistiki. More on that in a moment.

AcousticSheep SleepPhones Classic headphones review – CES 2014

AcousticSheep SleepPhones Classic

From AcousticSheep comes SleepPhones, the “pajamas for your ears”. These are headphones designed as a sleek and soft headband to be worn at night and while you fall sleep.

I review the AcousticSheep SleepPhones Classic model above, but they are available in a Bluetooth wireless model. The SleepPhones are made from a majority of recycled plastics to be environmental friendly and have flat speakers that slip easily in and out of the headband. This allows you to remove them for easy washing of the headband or replacing of the flat speakers.

The sound quality was good and the fit was very comfortable, even after hours of wearing it. Your forehead and ears can get warm wearing it for long times, but not from the speakers, just from the soft material they use. You can get  AcousticSheep SleepPhones Classic in a few colors and styles as I mention in the video.

I toss them into my luggage for travel and even use them on international flights for more comfort. Check out their selection on Amazon right here http://idonot.es/sleepphone and see the video for more of my thoughts.

Their website even offers hours of downloadable sounds for relaxation, extension cables, splitters and one of their real stuffed sheep. Also a runner model
